Tuesday April 4th at 10.30am

Fit Club

This is about making life easier for all who April be “over 60” and, perhaps, just “a bit stiff in the joints” or “a bit out of puff”. What a difference can be made with some simple exercises that we can do whilst sitting in a chair – removing stress, reducing pain, improving posture, balance and coordination, and so on. It’s gentle and fun - not at all about “no gain without pain” – and you can do it at home - less of the gym and more of the lounge!

There will be tea or coffee and the largest slices and the greatest selection of luscious cakes in Suffolk for all. It’s just like an afternoon tea party and the cakes are stupendous! * We have 3 Food ‘n’ Friends lunch clubs – each meeting every month. These offer an opportunity for a carer with the person they care for to enjoy an informal lunch where they can relax and enjoy meeting others without any concerns – everyone is aware of the difficulties that carers face and is more than happy to help and to share. They are usually held in a host’s home and are small in their membership – 4, 6, or 8 guests. Our current clubs are full at present and we are currently thinking about setting up a 4th club in the coming year – if you feel that this is something you might like to try, either as a guest or as a host/helper, please let us know as soon as possible (01728 862003).

The Forge Church in collaboration with the United Reform Church also organise a luncheon group for elderly housebound residents in and around the Debenham Area. They can provide transport and meet at 12.30 on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month (01449 710437).

ActivLives has runs weekly New Age Kurling and Boccia sessions which are open to all but, particularly, those who may be a little older than the rest of us, have a few aches and pains, and sometimes find a few problems remembering what happened yesterday but not what happened in their early years. The sessions are on Thursdays at the Debenham community Centre – 2.00 to 4.00pm – Contact Kim Bilner on 01473 345350.
