On Saturday 4th April 2010 , Debenham Project volunteers Joy Walton, Tony Mowles ,Kate, Emily, Lucy and Steve Robbins, offered an afternoon of 1940’s themed entertainment .It was great fun !Fiona Harrison ‘a voice in a million’ gave inspired performances and led everyone in an enthusiastic finale , which brought ‘last night at the Proms’ to Debenham Leisure Centre!
A2JIVE dance troupe showed us jitterbug, lindy hop and other high energy dances and their vintage costumes were fascinating. There was also the opportunity for foxtrots and quickstep ! Many 1940’s re enactors supported the event and the glamour and attention to detail in their costumes was captivating.
Tea and cakes served by Debenham W.I. were delicious and appreciated by all. Tony Cook’s excellent Forty’s themed quiz was won by ‘the Spivs’ who shared the retro items in the prize basket.
£234 was raised for the Debenham project and a good time was had by all. We even started contemplating the next one! Thank you to Abbott’s trading, Carter’s teapot pottery ,Debenham Pharmacy, KooKoo hairdressers, Webster’s newsagents and everyone else who generously contributed a raffle prize . Thank you to everyone who supported our event through helping to prepare, promoting the event, buying tickets and being there -you made it go with a swing!
